NOAA’s Chesapeake Bay Office works with marine scientists, coastal resource managers, and the general public to provide products to help protect, restore, and manage U.S. coastal resources. The Chesapeake By Office is seeking an individual to assist with the management and development of computer systems, data management, and web-based application supporting the Chesapeake Bay Observing System (CBOS – www.cbos.org, Chesapeake Inundation Prediction System (CIPS), Coastal Prediction Center (CPC) and the Chesapeake community Modeling Project (CCMP)). The selected individual will provide expertise for new dataset development and system administration. The individual will be employed by Versar (http://www.versar.com) under contract to NOAA.
- WeatherFlow designs, installs, and maintains proprietary weather station networks. Candidate will assist managing the expansion and maintenance of our networks. A majority of their duties will involve the installation and maintenance of individual stations. The candidate should have a basic understanding of electronics and be comfortable troubleshooting equipment. Some programming experience a plus. Extremely strong interpersonal skills and self confidence a must: despite the best planning or logistics, surprises in the field will occur and the candidate will need to make spot decisions. Prerequisites require good organizational skills, proactive work ethic, and desire to make discernible positive impact in a growing business. A degree in engineering, science, or technology preferred but not necessarily required. Candidate must be comfortable with travel (up to 50%) and deal with some non-standard hours.
