"Throughout our long history, the City of Alexandria has suffered damage from tidal flooding of the Potomac River,  especially in our historic Old Town area of the City.  We do not have any accurate way to predict the effects of potential flooding events and we cannot accurately develop a protective action plan for the people or property in harm's way."

"CIPS is extremely important to the City of Alexandria.  If we are able to get the information this prototype has proven to show in real time, it will be the first time we are able to make better decisions regarding sandbagging, evacuation, increasing rescue resources, and readying recovery forces for these events."
