Rob is the Requirements Coordinator on the management staff of the NOS Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services (CO-OPS). CO-OPS’ mission is to provide the National infrastructure, science, and technical expertise to monitor, assess, and distribute tide, current, water level, and other coastal oceanographic products and services. These products and services are required to support a wide variety of applications such as: Safe Marine Transportation, Nautical Charting and Shoreline Mapping, Recreational Boating, Hazardous Material Response, Storm Surge and Coastal Flooding and Tidal Datums and Sea Level Determination. CO-OPS operates and maintains the National Water Level Observation Network (NWLON) and the Physical Oceanographic Real-time System (PORTS), which are part of the Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) National backbone.
Rob holds a B.S. degree in Marine Biology from the University of Mississippi and a M.S. degree in Meteorology and Oceanography from the Naval Postgraduate School.
Recent Activities: Rob has coordinated CO-OPS participation in a number of recent IOOS projects. He represents CO-OPS as a member of SouthEast Atlantic Coastal Ocean Observing System (SEACOOS) and is a member of the Great Lakes Observing System (GLOS) steering committee.
